Doggett Concrete – Habitat for Humanity Partner
York County Habitat for Humanity, local homebuilders partner for nationwide building event
York County, SC, October 6, 2015 — During the month of October, professional homebuilders from across York County area and York County Habitat for Humanity are joining forces to build hope and homes in partnership with low-income families seeking affordable housing.
During Habitat for Humanity’s Home Builders Blitz, Habitat affiliates nationwide will partner with construction teams to build, renovate or repair more than 200 homes in partnership with low-income families, including one home in Rock Hill. During the annual building event, participating Habitat affiliates recruit and partner with local professional builders, who provide labor, funding and materials, thus giving affiliates the ability to serve more families without the usual tasks of raising funds and recruiting volunteers.
“Homebuilders have a unique perspective on the importance of a strong, well-developed community, which makes them invaluable partners in Habitat’s work,” said Tim Veeck, Executive Director of York County Habitat for Humanity. “And thanks to the generous donation of these builders’ and suppliers a new home is being built for the Moore family in Rock Hill, helping them realize the dream of homeownership.”
Locally, more than 20 subcontractors and suppliers are supporting the effort through the donation of labor and materials.
Doggett Concrete is honored to be a part of this project. There are so many great people coming together to make a difference for this family. Every inch of concrete poured, each nail pounded, and every bit of sweat and hard work brings us all joy because we know we are making a difference.
About York County Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity’s vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Anchored by the conviction that housing provides a critical foundation for breaking the cycle of poverty, Habitat has helped more than 4 million people around the world construct, rehabilitate or preserve homes since 1976. Habitat also advocates to improve access to decent and affordable shelter and supports a variety of funding models that enable families with limited resources to make needed improvements on their homes as their time and resources allow. As a nonprofit Christian housing organization, Habitat for Humanity of York County has partnered locally with 58 families through new home construction or rehabs and 32 families through home preservation projects. Currently, in addition to the planned repairs in Fort Mill, the affiliate is constructing a new home in Rock Hill. Our goal is to have the family in their home in time for the holidays.
